Christine Jorgensen, in case you didn't know, was the first American male-to-female transsexual to undergo the operation, which she did in 1952. When she came home, she faced an ugly public, who'd been fed silly, false lines by the newspapers. She was the national joke for a few years, and she never received the quiet life she dreamt of. And yet she approved this movie, which was about as damaging as the worst of the tabloids. It ignores the facts, and fills the story with the worst of clichés.
