Germanic and German are different things...and Huns are Turkic peoples. Germanic tribes had their own laws (like the saxon common law, trial by jury) washed with soap rather than oil like the romans and had their own coinange and iron working...how is that backwards? England beat Spain when she was at her height. Germany wiped the floor with Italy several times - they are not the same people today they were 2000 years ago....I still love them though.

Some native americans had democracy before any Europeans ever arrived...yes the ancient Romans and Greeks did lots for science and philosophy and then christianity came and ever since aside from the odd flash of brilliance they have been living in the lower end of the European scale...more famous for food and dancing than disciple and science...I think they should drop Christianity and take back their place!

The foundation and greatness of the West is based on the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean basin, Egypt, Greece the Etruscans & Rome in particular. You German Huns should be greatful to have had such a good foundation...because back then you were just a bunch of backward nomads....

If the Greco-Romans are so great why is it that the Germanic (and Celtic) peoples rule Europe and the world even today though culture, language and commerce? Italy and Greece are just places we go on vacation these days...they don't even have the same religion they had back then hehe...but then neither do the Persians do they?

It is neither sad nor pathetic. It's fun learning about history and arguing about it because it induces a sense of pride in those who know they are making a point and know that they are right.

for all we know they are going to have lasted longer than America. the USA's only been free from England for about 232 years, and Rome lasted much longer.
