I know, the nazis tried it however but got stopped by the russians. This battle led to the german defeat in russia. I just said some things about the holy roman empire. they dont have anything to do with the anzis

Newgate and Matti (funny name. so familiar to me...) Leningrad was never conquered by the german nazis. In fact, the german "baumeisters" had to build this beautiful city according to the plans of Tsar Peter the Great. Germans did it for money.

Heard this at his first public presentation at a Penn State concert he gave. The audience stood, cheered and wept! Those of us that grew up near Allentown during Viet Nam and the Cold War knew exactly what he as talking about...he sung what we all were feeling.

the holy roman empire lasted about 1000 years (from 800-1800). but they were germans and did not get conquered by romans. that was 500 years earlyie, but the roman empire couldnt invade germany further than the rhine river. the holy roman empire was created by german kings (of frankonia and saxony)

For me, this is the best song of Billy Joel. It's so full of understanding for the life, someone have to live in another culture. Leningrad remembers me to World Wor II, and this is important in this song. Most important: This song is about the live of the author himself, about a meeting with someone else. It's not fiction, it's like documentary. I did not see that before. It's so sad, that the people today still blindly believe what their governments say. Power still owns microphones.
