Yeah, the early produced Spitfires had 2 blades, then it went up to 3, then 4, 5, 6 and then 10 I think or 12; a clockwise and anti-clockwise rotor, one behind the other... I forget which mark it is, but that doesn't matter, it's still a Spit!

thats a 222 natal squadron spit which was based at hornchurch during the war ,2 mins from where i live

Ehoa dead on, but it was the most manuverable
plane in their force, it would out fly anything the germans could throw at it

the spitfire is just a beautiful plane, the sound of the engine, i used to build model ones as a kid

Man the sound of that plane gives me goosebumps every time. The Spitfire wsn't about performance or firepower or anything that tangible, it was the plane that symbolised Britain standing alone against Hitler's Germany.

1 version of spit , supermarine had 2 blades i think it ended up with 5 or 6 blades, blades has nothing to do with strokes, the spit was bulid in over 30 diff. versions most of them saw action.
