It isnt true, because the Byzantine empire recognized all the barbarians kingdom. They gave themselves different organization, not only for the military point of view but even for the language. So said that the Byzantine was the heir af Roma is to much forced. After 250AD many people comes from outside the Roman Empire predated the Roman city, for this reason was created the "tetrarchi" and then the split of the Empire in two different entity with two different emperor! So the byzantine are not Romans

you are wrong, because the byzantine empire was a remnant, not a 'claimant' to be the heir to rome, they are the remnant because they are what remained of the eastern half of the roman empire. That said, Romes glorious old legions had been in long decline even before the fall of the western empire, the quality of the legions went rapidly downhill after 250AD. They were still reasonable troops but not extraordinary.

You should change the title. The Roman Empire fell in 476 when the Muslim did not exist yet!! In the late Roman Republican and early Empire (190BC-200AD) all people in the Mediterranean area belong to Roma. Duging this period they lose only two battles. What happen after the fallen of Roma is another hystory. Every people come after wanted to became the heir of Roma but they had different organization and above all they have not the invincible Roman Legion.

subhanallah what was the battle called

Whatever happened, the muslim warriors did deafeat two great and long established empires in a short period of time, the byzantine romans had some terrible defeats, and the sassanid persians where conquered completely. The Bedouin warriors were hardy fighters indeed.

Correction: "when the main empire fell at the hands of Germanic tribes, the *Eastern half..."
bartlebyonline (August 20th, 2008 @ 6:23 am)
Ok right. I checked up and I was wrong to refer to the Eastern portion as part of the Holy Roman Empire. They may have called themselves Roman, but they had by that time lost all of the hallmarks that made Rome such a powerful and long-lasting empire. All it would have taken the 1st century Roman army to deal with with 15,000 would have been about one legion plus auxillaries.
rnjigga (August 19th, 2008 @ 7:40 pm)
What are you talking about? The Holy Roman Empire was located in modern-day Germany. We're talking about the Easter ROMAN Empire, which was originally the Eastern chunk of the famous Roman Empire of Caesar and all them. when the main empire fell at the hands of Germanic tribes, the Western half remained alive with Constantinople as its capitol. They even called themselves Roman, not Byzantines, since the term "Byzantine Empire" was not coined until far after the last days of the empire.

This one ridiculous claim. It is not based in historical records but revisionist history. Traditionally, with perhaps the exception of Salah El-Din Muslim armies were rarely cable of fielding armies of veteran soldiers capable of opposing a quality western army. And this video incorrectly refers to the Cristian army as Roman. That is another attempt to confuse the issue. The Holy Roman Empire is/was not the same entity as the Roman Empire. Completely different concepts and civilizations.

Palestine have no "nuclear bomb" and neither does iraq, afghanistan, lebanon, chechen, albania, algeria, bengladesh, syria, etc All "muslim" countries just wait to get wiped out from the earth. the own government of each and every single country doesnt give a penny to its people or uses theyr army to fight the invader. can you picture america being invaded and the army will not only not defend its people but will support the invader? so how come 5000 kids with rocks are still too much to handle?

Ehhhh... the best guerilla fighters maybe... your standing armies don't tend to do very good against western ones.
